Phoenix(One type of oolong)

China is the homeland of tea. In this vast land, the tea planting area reaches 3.165 million hectares, accounting for 62.1% of the total tea planting area in the world and ranking first. 

The varieties cover six major types:green tea,white tea, yellow tea,oolong tea,black tea and dark tea. The world-famous Feng Huang single bush is a kind of oolong tea,green tea, white tea, yellow tea,oolong tea,black tea and dark tea. Phoenix Dancong Tea,a kind of oolong tea,is famous all over the world.  

History of the development of Phoenix oolong

Phoenix Dancong tea produced in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, which is also the hometown of oolong tea. 

During Tongzhi and Guangxu reigns,tea farmers selected the superior varieties and cultivated them after long-term careful practice.Dancong literally

meaning single stem, also suggests that all the tea leaves are picked from a single tea plant and then processed and sold. Be cause it is originated in Phoenix Mountains of Chaozhou,it is historically known as Phoenix Dancong Tea.

Growth of Phoenix oolong

Located at 23.92° north latitude,the growth area of the Phoenix Dancong Tea is the suitable latitude for tea tree cultivation. 

The mountains here are surrounded by clouds and fog all year round,the temperature is suitable and the soil is fertile. The superior natural environment provides good growth conditions for tea plants.

Now,there are at least 10 different fragrance types of Phoenix Dancong Tea. The most tipical variety name”Duck Shit Aroma Oolong”. Fortunately for us tea enthusiasts, this tea doesn’t taste a bit like duck shit…

Duck Shit Aroma

Although called Duck Shit Aroma, this tea is exceptionally fragrant and sweet.

Recently,Duck Shit Aroma Oolong has been renamed by tea specialists to “Yin Hua Xiang”, meaning “honeysuckle aroma”, due to its honey-like sweetness and floral fragrance. However,the majority of Duck Shit Aroma fans still prefer to stick with its original name.  

The origin of its name”Duck Shit Aroma” tells us how special it is, that farmers would spread lies about their precious tea.  

In that time,the soil of “Duck Shit Aroma”Oolong has a distinct yellowish-brown color, which is perfect for nourishing the ancient tea trees, some of which are up to 600 years old. To prevent others from stealing these tea trees, the farmers would tell outsiders that this color came from all the duck shit in the soil, hoping to dissuade interest.

But these lies dosen’t worked as well as the farmers hoped. Soon enough, the aromatic of Dan Cong Oolong that grows from “duck shit” had spread far and wide, provoking much interest to try this special tea.  

After the first steep,Duck Shit Aroma Oolong taste incredibly fresh and sweet, with a light gardenia aroma. With the second infusion, the scent and sweetness become more prominent. Finally, at the third infusion the taste is mellow and full, with a long-lasting aftertaste.  

From then on, Duck Shit Aroma Oolong became famous and won the hearts of countless tea drinkers.
